Primitivism
During her undergraduate degree in drawing and printmaking, the artist was sponsored to travel to Costa Rica and connect with a culture that was intertwined with nature. First inspired by the Primitivism art movement during the era of Paul Gauguin, the artist wanted to combine a more organic treatment of the human figure with eastern philosophical concepts of naturalism found in Buddhism, Neo-Confusionism, and Daosim to answer the question of ‘What is our natural state?
